Sira Elizabeth Cosain - Owner/Yoga Instructor
500 Hour YogaWorks certified instructor with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.
Sira received a Bachelor's in Kinesiology (Exercise Science) from Cal State Northridge in 1999. The program consisted of extensive studies of the human body anatomy and its biomechanics. She also included philosophy in her studies. She then discovered the business world and received an MBA from Pepperdine University. She loves computers and problem solving which helps with her other career as a Report Developer.
Her first experience with Yoga was a three-hour Yoga forgiveness workshop which left her feeling better than she had ever felt before (lighter and a less stressed from just one class!!). It was surprising that a form of movement/exercise could have such an affect on her mental state and she decided she needed more Yoga in her life. Since then she has completed the 200 Hour Teacher Training and the 300 Hour Professional Program through YogaWorks and has taught privately.
She has also been practicing regularly since then and has seen the value a Yoga practice can add to a corporate life style (one big bonus is being better able to handle stress). Years of commuting, sitting behind a desk 8 hours a day, and wearing high heels had limited her range of motion, tightened muscles, and contributed to lower back and knee issues and she was glad to learn that Yoga could counteract these effects. She has also been a runner for over 15 years (and feeling the effects in her knees, lower back and performance) it turned out that Yoga also contributed to increased performance, and reduced knee and back pain. It was also nice to see how Yoga enhanced other daily activities such as, playing on the floor with her nieces and nephews, getting out of bed in the morning without stiffness, less neck tension (actually the constant neck tension went away), and more energy.
Her goal as a teacher is to do what her teachers did for her.
- To take a beginner to the next level (safely and gracefully) allowing them to experience all the benefits a regular practice produces.
- To introduce this practice to exercisers/athletes helping them see the value a regular Yoga practice can add to their training (both as an excellent form of cross training and as a method to of preventing injury).
She loves Yoga and wholeheartedly believes in the changes this practice can make to a person's mind, body, and spirit. Practicing Yoga has opened her to a completely new world and now she wants to share that world with you!
